CraftKids asks students to explore the interplay between form and function in craft through carefully looking at the Museum’s collection and temporary exhibitions. Through a 60-minute session, students are introduced to craft by
considering the role it plays in their daily lives. Tours are inquiry- and discussion-based, guiding students as they learn to look at objects in new and meaningful ways. Thematic tours focus on materials, process, identity in craft, positive and negative space, and more.
Reservations are required a minimum of two weeks in advance. Please provide the requested date and time, contact name, contact information, as well as the number and grade level of students.

They are watching you, but you can’t see it. You are becoming them, but you don’t know it. Then,
you have that dream where you have three moms and they are scolding you as they pull sweaters over your head
and make you repeat the words they whisper in your ears. You wake up onstage under blinding lights with a
microphone in your hand looking out over an expectant audience. No one has a family this strange; nobody has a
family that loves or hates each other this much ... except you and everyone who looks like you.

This evening-length theatrical performance, based on a “forgetting” of Seijun Suzuki’s 1967 cult classic movie Koroshi no Rakuin (Branded to Kill), will incorporate dance movement, projected image, live and recorded sound. Austin’s distinctive choreography is matched with Nehil’s evocative musique concrete, creating a place where the grotesque and the whimsical slide into each other, overlap and become confused.
