On the 1st Friday of each month, dozens of local artists working in diverse media exhibit their creations at downtown Hood River businesses. A collaboration between local business, artists, and performers, 1st Friday is among the area's top cultural events and is enhanced by live entertainment throughout the downtown area. Participating businesses extend their hours into the evening with artists on hand to showcase and sell their art, while a variety of performers entertain throughout the downtown area. This is a great opportunity for youth to come and enjoy Soul Café. Each Friday will feature a theme night centered on issues which our young people face today. Topics will include “Life Nights,” “Issue Nights” and “Social Nights.” This is a great evening filled with games and activities which every kid will enjoy.
Explore Drawing as an Art Form. Show curator Sally Reichmuth says, “Drawing is understood as the basis of all pictorial representation and has been described as the gateway to successful painting, but is not often appreciated as an art form in itself. This show will be a celebration of drawing for drawing’s sake.”
